Alice’s Beautiful Belly

•July 21, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Have I stated lately how much I LOVE maternity sessions? I just adore working with pregnant woman! Maybe because I was one once… only once. :) Saturday I got to meet Alice, take photos of her, and chat about babies and puppies! She has a chihuahua that couldn’t get enough of the us and the pictures I was taking of her mama. Here is a sneak peek at some of the photos from her session…

And here is her sweet little girl’s puppy portrait! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!

Anyone else interested in Maternity photos please e-mail me! Unfortunately you might have to wait until September because I am pretty much booked up until after Labor Day, but if you are ready to POP any moment I can see if I can arrange a special session for you!

Who Loves Orcas Island, WA? I DO! I DO!

So a couple of months back I met with Allison and Mike who were getting married on Orcas Island, WA. The meeting was fun and they are awesome, although, I don’t recall our conversation being very photography related lol! Well a couple weeks later I had a contract in my hand to shoot their wedding on June 21, 2008. Now I had never been to Orcas Island which is about a 2 hour drive and a 1 1/2 hour ferry ride away from my happy home in Kent. I was amazed at how beautiful and truly untouched the islands there are! To top it all off there were Orcas swimming near the ferry as we made the trip! That was last Saturday and I am now working my way through all their fab pics so I can get a picture packed slideshow to them before their NEXT RECEPTION (that’s right) in California! They decided to travel to their friends instead of try to have everyone travel to them! Brilliant! So they are on a 2 month honeymoon so to speak as they travel around and have fun celebrating the beginning of their marriage! Alright enough blabbing… I’m sure you want to see some pics! :)

I’m Back

Hey everyone I know I’ve been MIA for a while now. I came down with a really severe case of pneumonia, but a month, lots of coughing, and 3 broken ribs later I am back! :) While I was down and out I went to my grandparent’s guest house on hood canal for a little R & R. My daughter came with me and we had a great time just hanging out by the water and looking at the beautiful scenery. I wasn’t able to rest the whole time because I brought my camera with me and I seem to always find something to take a picture of, broken ribs or not. So here are a couple of the pictures I took while I was out there… This first one is of the water and a some land… now I am no landscape photographer, but I tried!

This second one is of some bubbles my daughter was blowing as I lazily snapped some pics! ;D

Needless to say I am back in business, and thank you to everyone who was patient with me while I recovered! I am very blessed to be surrounded, by such wonderful clients and friends.

Second Shooting

•May 22, 2008 • 1 Comment

I know it’s Thursday and I am just now getting around to writing about the wedding I second shot last Saturday, but hey… I was a busy girl this week! I was shooting the wedding with a friend of mine named, Kirk, who knew the family so he really wanted to do an awesome job therefore brought me on to shoot with him. It ended up being 91 degrees that day and an outdoor wedding! I was sweating like a pig, I got a sunburn on my nose, but those things aside it was an absolutely beautiful ceremony….

One thing I will say though is that I did not enjoy second shooting. I like the stress of fast paced situations and I think I perform very well under those circumstances. As a second shooter I wasn’t able to get as creative as I would have liked because I felt it was important to let Kirk run the show and get credit for all the work. I am glad I had this opportunity to be a second shooter because it made me realize that I am definitely confident enough and have enough skill to capture beautiful images, and I don’t need the assistant shooting learning experiences to do my job well. I have been doing photography for quite a big part of my life so I guess I just need to jump in feet first and have more faith in my abilities as a photographer! Here are a few more photos from the reception…

Have a great weekend everyone… oh and Allison and Mike I am really looking forward to being your wedding photographer in a few weeks! Ciao!

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Wow was it ever hot today in sunny Seattle! My daughter Dina and I took full advantage of it and hit the beach! Coulon Beach in Renton is perfect for days like today. Not only is it right on Lake Washington there is a sandy beach, volleyball nets, kids playground, diving boards, an Ivars and a Kid Valley, lots of shady places, a boat ramp to launch your boat if you have one and best of all…. no dogs… not that I don’t enjoy bringing my little pup along to the beach I just can’t stand it when Billy Joe Whoever brings his big beast next to me and it shakes all over me! Hair, water, dirt…. all on ME! I think that parks are dog friendly, but swimming beaches aren’t.  My mother decided to tag along today and we had a really good time laying out, making sand castles with Dina, and lugging water back and forth from the lake. I recommend this park to anyone looking to BBQ, play volleyball, or take a dip. One tip if you decide to make the trip: GO EARLY! The park opens at 9am and the earlier you get there the easier it will be to avoid parking issues, undesirables, and high school stragglers. Have a good weekend everyone!
